What can be done about a swollen spleen that is painful?

I keep having pain in the spleen. This comes and goes. I can't bend over to do up laces or pick something up without having a tight-fisted muscle spasm like a cramp,as though there is a contracted muscle. I have to straighten up slowly as it sort of releases. Imhave had this for over 27 years, since my son was born.
