If a tooth infection causes half my face to go numb will it last

I currently have a tooth infection in my lower left moler and it has caused me severe pain. I recently felt like the infection was spreading so I went to a dentist to acquire some penicillin. I woke up this morning and the numbness had spread further outward in my lips and toward the right of my face. There is a decent amount of internal swelling. Will this last?
