How long should it take to schedule ankle surgery?

I work in an environment where I'm on my feet all the time, and our slow period is coming up (when it would be advantageous for me to be out getting my ankle taken care of). How likely is it that my orthopedic surgeon will be able to work within my schedule? I guess I'd like to hear how long it took some of you to get in for your surgeries so I know what to expect.
