Vegetarian considering eating meat to increase iron levels...

Lately I have been inexplicably tired. I decided to get my iron checked and found that while I do not have anemia, my ferritin levels are low. To my understanding, ferritin stores iron in the body. That suggests that even if I intake enough iron, there isn't the space it needs for it to remain in my body and be utilized.
