Can TMJ present as mouth pain?

I'm having pretty unbearable burning/pain/pressure in the back of my mouth, like where my wisdom teeth would be and up to the roof of my mouth and sometimes tongue on both sides. Also having some dull pain in my face and temples. Jaw also pops like crazy on both sides. All this started after dental work. Doc says it's a jaw problem/injury causing all this pain.
