Can one become deaf by removing an ear plug too fast?

My father was using ear plugs because the neighbors are too noisy, and sometime ago he removed one too abruptly, and he said he was deaf on that ear afterwards. I don't know if he visited a doctor or not, or what would be the "diagnosis", he won't tell me, and he's very upset. He said he doesn't feel any pain though....click here to continue
