Thyroid throat swelling? or Tmj related?

I have had (what looks like) thyroid swelling for motnhs. I have been having difficulty swallowing. When I swallow, my throat feels small and it feels like throat is pressing against food. However, it seems that it is NOT my thyroid, becuase I have had a ct scan and mri, which I guess have both not showed thyroid enlargement, so I am confused.
