Can Diazepam make your TMJ worse?

Hello all! After a harrowing 2 months with dentists and extractions, rootcanals and the like...I was diagnosed with TMJ last friday. They gave me some Naproxen and Diazepam to start off with. After a 12 hour sleep yesterday everything seemed to calm down. But later when I took the Diazepam..the pain got a lot worse.
