ascariasis infection

I was recently treated for an ascariasis infection with a one dose treatment of albenza (400 mg). I'm a bit confused with the life cycle of this parasite. With both males and females present does reproduction occur within the human host thus perpetuating their presence, or do fertilized eggs need to be expelled and in contact with soil before they can emerge as worms?
